I’m pretty excited about this update. I wasn’t quite pleased with the performance of the simulation in the last few days, so I did some debugging and fixed an elitism bug, improved the fitness function and parent selection. The improvement is clearly visible – the ants find the path way faster and keep finding it after it is once already done. I even made the obstacles more difficult. I also increased the population size to 100 to speed things up a bit. You can see the result below. My ants found the way to the goal in approx. 80 generations. 🙂
