The third personal development week of 2019 has also gone by quickly! This week I listened to fewer audiobooks and did some different activities instead!
This week I only listened to one audiobook, however, I found it amazing!
The 5 Second Rule: Transform Your Life, Work, and Confidence with Everyday Courage
In my opinion, this has been the best audiobook I have listened to so far. The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins describes a simple yet effective method to enrich your life and destroy doubts in only 5 seconds.
The method is extremely simple – whenever you have a desire to try something or to improve your life, start counting “5…4…3…2…1…” and start doing it. This prevents your brain from “pulling the emergency brake” and stopping you from starting the action. The book also describes the scientific reason why this rule is working.
The 5 second rule can be used to become more confident, to feel happier and to follow your true desires in life. I have also started to use it and it has helped me so far. 🙂
In the book, Mel Robbins gives a lot of examples on how to use the rule and how many people have improved their lives using it. I liked it, however, many reviewers online say that they thought the book was too long.
All in all, I thought this book was great and so far I have found the 5 second rule to be truly useful. I’ll probably listen to this book at least once more in the future.
My rating: 5/5
Waking up Early
I’m still waking up at 4:30 a.m., however, I have to admit, it has been a bit difficult for the last couple of days.
In the next few days, I’m planning to create a list of tasks like cleaning my apartment, working out and playing piano, so each morning is more structured. If I have a TODO list, I think it might be easier to spend the morning productively.
Here is the piano practice video I promised last week. I’m still playing piano regularly, and I’ll start practicing both hands together soon! Can you already tell what song I’m playing? 😛
This week I started watching some online courses about human behavior and learning. The two courses are:
- Mindshift: Break Through Obstacles to Learning and Discover Your Hidden Potential
- Human Behavioral Biology
Both of the courses can be viewed for free, and you can also check them out if you find this topic interesting. I’ll try to finish at least one of them during the next week.
By the way, I’m still going to the gym, however, there isn’t much to tell about it. 🙂
